Pre-Prosthetic Plan
Pre-prosthetic surgery is the first step to getting dentures or prosthetics. This surgery will prepare your mouth, ensuring there are no surprises in the procedure that will follow.
For some patients, pre-prosthetic surgery is very minor, especially if you are eligible for partial dentures. Depending on your situation, considering you may need more extensive pre-prosthetic surgery, especially when complete dentures.
It’s important that your bone is the proper size and shape to hold your dentures in place since dentures sit on the bone ridge. At Layton Ridge Implants and Oral Surgery, every surgery is customized to your specific medical needs. To best prepare you for dentures, the doctor may recommend bone reshaping or smoothing.
Removing excess bone or gum tissue can help ensure your dentures will fit comfortably and securely. It can even help prevent “sore spots” caused by poor bone shape prior to denture placement.
